Yes. Savvy Spender is free to download and you can keep using it for free.

The free experience includes manually adding expenses and income, organising items into categories, and viewing totals and insights. After your initial trial period ends, free accounts have a 60-day lookback window for historical data.

We also offer an optional Pro plan that unlocks premium features like unlimited AI scanning and advanced reporting (including PDF reports). Current limits and pricing are always shown in the app.

You take a photo (or choose an image), and Savvy Spender uses AI to extract details like merchant, date, totals, and line items when available. For paychecks, it can also capture employer and pay-period details and help organise income entries.

You are always in control. You can review and edit anything the scan finds before saving.

Nothing stops working. You can continue using Savvy Spender with manual entry, and all of your existing data remains available within your plan’s lookback window.

If you want to keep scanning, you can upgrade to Pro (unlimited scanning) or earn additional AI scans through referrals.

From Settings, open Refer a Friend to generate a referral link and QR code that you can share by text, email, or in person.

Here’s the typical flow:
  • Your friend installs Savvy Spender using your referral link (or by scanning your QR code).
  • They create their own account (and complete any required steps shown in the app).
  • Once they qualify, your account is automatically credited with referral rewards.

Referral rewards can include additional AI scans. These earned scans can be used even after your introductory trial ends.

Important notes:
  • Referral codes are single-use codes. You'll need to provide a new code for each referred person.
  • Self-referrals and abusive behaviour are not allowed, and may cause rewards to be reversed.
  • Because eligibility rules can evolve, the most up-to-date details are shown inside the app.

Yes, but export options depend on your plan.

Post-trial free: You can export a CSV of your transactions within your 60-day lookback window.
Trial and Pro: You can export CSV and generate full PDF reports (including advanced report layouts and visuals).

Exports are available inside the app under each list area.

Security is a top priority. We use multiple layers of protection to help keep your information safe.

  • Encrypted in transit: All network traffic is protected using SSL/TLS (HTTPS).
  • Encrypted at rest: Data stored in our systems is protected using 256-bit AES encryption.
  • Account protection: Secure sign-in and time-limited password reset links help protect access to your account.
  • No selling of data: We do not sell your personal financial data to third parties.

No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we continually work to follow industry best practices and minimize risks.

Email verification messages are usually delivered within 5 minutes, but in some cases they can take longer depending on your email provider.

If you do not receive the email within 15 minutes:
  • Use the Resend verification email option in the app.
  • Check your spam, junk, and promotions folders.
  • Confirm the email address on your account is spelled correctly.

If you still can't find it after resending, contact support and include the email address you used to sign up.

For best results, try to match your phone’s orientation to the shape of the item.

  • Receipts: Usually scan best in portrait orientation.
  • Paychecks / income documents: Often scan best in landscape orientation.

More tips to improve AI accuracy:
  • Lay the item flat on a surface, and avoid wrinkles or heavy shadows.
  • Use bright, even lighting. Sometimes the camera flash helps; sometimes it creates glare. If the first scan is unclear, try again with flash on (or off).
  • Position the camera so the entire item is visible in the frame, including edges and totals.
  • Hold steady and wait for the camera to focus clearly before capturing.

If the scan results are incomplete or incorrect, a re-scan is often the fastest fix, especially if you adjust lighting or orientation.

On the login screen, select Forgot Password and enter your registered email address. We’ll send a secure password reset email to that address. For your protection, reset links expire after a period of time.

Yes. You can delete your account from within the app (typically under Settings or Account).

When you request deletion:
  • Your account is placed into a deletion state and your data is scheduled for removal.
  • We retain your data for up to 90 days to allow for recovery if you change your mind.
  • If you want to restore your account during that 90-day window, contact support and we can help reinstate it.
  • After the retention window, your data is permanently removed and can no longer be recovered.

Yes. Sign in with the same Savvy Spender account and your data syncs automatically.

Depending on your plan, there may be limits on how many devices can be actively signed in at the same time. If you ever hit a device limit, the app will guide you through switching devices or upgrading.

Many parts of Savvy Spender are designed to be usable even when your connection is spotty. You can typically add items and keep working, and the app will sync when you’re back online. Features that require uploading an image for AI processing may require an active connection.
